Fortuner Mild Hybrid vs Standard: Why is it better to buy a new variant instead of an old Fortuner? Know the difference between the two

Fortuner Mild Hybrid vs Standard: What is the difference between Toyota Fortuner Neo Drive Mild Hybrid and Standard model. Let’s find out, is it beneficial to buy the mild hybrid variant by paying 2 lakh more?

Fortuner Mild Hybrid vs Standard: Toyota has launched a new variant of its famous SUV Fortuner, Fortuner Neo Drive Mild Hybrid. This SUV is now available in both Legend and Standard trims, but its 48V mild hybrid system has been newly added to it. Now the question arises whether this new hybrid system really justifies the extra price of Rs 2 lakh? Let’s know.

What is the change in the powertrain?

The standard Fortuner gets a 2.8-litre diesel engine, but in the Neo Drive mild hybrid variant, this engine is now mated to a 48V lithium-ion battery and an electric motor generator. This change gives the vehicle better driving refinement and smoothness at low speeds. Although there may be a slight improvement in mileage, it is usually not the primary reason for customers buying Fortuner.

Benefit of extra features

Toyota has not only changed the engine in the Neo Drive variant, but has also added many important safety and comfort features. It includes advanced features like 7 airbags, 360 degree camera, Traction Control System (TCS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC). The absence of these features puts the standard Fortuner behind its competitive SUVs, especially when other companies are offering more technology at the same or less price.

Is the price hike justified?

The Neo Drive mild hybrid variant is about Rs 2 lakh more expensive than the standard Fortuner. In such a situation, the question arises whether this extra expense is justified?:
The mild hybrid system improves driving and engine refinement significantly. Let us tell you that the driving experience in cities is smoother and more responsive than before. This variant comes with future-ready technology, which is a clear step towards electrification.

Extra safety features

There is no major change in mileage. For those who drive mostly on the highway, this technology may not be very beneficial. The price hike may not be justified by all customers, especially those who make decisions on a budget.

Will there be more hybrid diesel SUVs in the future?

This move by Toyota is a big indication towards the electrification of Fortuner. In the future, it can be expected that other auto brands will also launch diesel-powered SUVs with mild hybrid systems, especially in segments where diesel engines are still a popular choice.

Rapido Traffic Charge: Big news related to Rapido! If there is traffic, money will be deducted from the customer's pocket every minute

Rapido Traffic Charge: People say that these platforms are now making money from situations that are not in the hands of the customer. This is a matter of directly destroying trust.

Rapido Traffic Charge: Ride-hailing app Rapido has introduced a new charging system, which has shocked passengers. Now if there is a lot of traffic during your ride and the journey is delayed, then you will have to bear the cost of it too. An additional charge of Rs 0.50 will be charged every minute for a traffic delay of more than 10 minutes, the maximum limit of which has been fixed at Rs 30.

Huge resentment among consumers

There is an atmosphere of resentment against Rapido in cities like Bengaluru regarding this decision. Many users have described this rule as “unfair” and “exploitative”. They have raised the question that when the traffic is not in their control, then why is a charge being taken for it?

Traffic is not my fault

Hebbal resident Pavitra Rao, while talking to The Hindu, said that she had already given a tip of Rs 40, but still she had to pay an additional charge due to traffic. He said, “The driver should get his wages, but charging for something that is not in the passenger’s control is wrong. This seems like straight-up extortion.”

First the tipping controversy, now the uproar over traffic charges

Recently, questions were also raised about tipping on Rapido, when the company started giving the option of ‘add tip’ while booking a ride. Regarding this, Consumer Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi had ordered an investigation by CCPA (Central Consumer Protection Authority) on 21 May. After this, Rapido, Ola and Uber changed the language to “Add more (voluntary)”, but users say that the experience is still the same.

Trust is breaking

People say that these platforms are now earning money from situations that are not in the hands of the customer. This is a matter of breaking trust. Regulators should intervene in such cases so that transparency is maintained.

CCPA’s investigation continues

At present, CCPA is reviewing the entire matter, but no official statement has come from Rapido so far. Consumer complaints are increasing and it is expected that the government will take strict action on this.

Rapido’s move is also under question because now passengers have to pay for reasons which are not in their control? Consumers say that “If this trend starts, then every traffic signal will give a new bill.
