Renault Duster EV: Renault is planning to launch its new Duster in the Indian market. This SUV is already being sold in the global market. Not only this, Duster will also be launched in electric version along with ICE. According to a report by Autocar UK, Duster is going to get a fully electric powertrain option. Dacia CEO Denis Le Vot said that the Renault Duster EV sold under the Dacia brand in European markets “will come in time”. His statement coincides with the April report.

Dacia to launch electric version of its popular Duster SUV

ICE cars are to be phased out in the UK and European markets by 2035, so Dacia is looking to implement an electric line-up. At the moment, the brand’s only electric car is the Spring EV, but there are plans to have EV powertrain options for all models including the Bigster. The Duster EV will use the same EV-specific CMF-BEV platform, which is the basis of the Renault 5 and 4 crossovers. This architecture, which is essentially an EV-adapted version of the current, petrol-powered Duster’s CMF-B platform, will underpin all upcoming electric cars from Dacia.

All existing cars using the CMF-BEV platform are powered by the front axle, so there was uncertainty over whether the architecture could accommodate a second motor at the rear. However, Renault recently revealed a 4×4 concept version – believed to be a preview of a production version – that adds an powered rear axle to enhance the crossover’s off-roading capabilities. The Duster will be the second Dacia model from its current line-up to be converted into an EV. The first will be the Sandero hatchback, which will get an EV option with the next-gen model coming in 2027.

New-gen Renault Duster features

The new Renault Duster features some styling and feature changes compared to the Dacia Duster, especially the front fascia. For example, the Renault Duster uses an original radiator grille. The rhombus-shaped logo has been replaced with the ‘RENAULT’ text in bold. Dimension-wise, both the Dacia Duster and Renault Duster are quite similar. The Renault Duster measures 4,343mm in length and has a wheelbase of 2,658mm. The ground clearance of the Dacia and Renault versions ranges from 209 to 217mm.
