Royal Enfield Himalayan: Royal Enfield tests new Himalayan 750 and HIM-E in Ladakh

Royal Enfield is testing the second generation model of the Himalayan electric bike. Test runs are being conducted in Ladakh and various improvements are being made.

Royal Enfield’s Himalayan motorcycle continues to be a popular choice among adventure and touring enthusiasts in India. The brand is currently working on two new versions in an effort to further enhance its touring bike lineup.

Second-generation prototype launched

The second-generation prototype of the Himalayan Electric (HIM-E 2.0) was launched in November 2024. Under the direct supervision of the company’s CEO P. Govindarajan, the bike has been undergoing testing on the country’s challenging trails, especially in places like Kartung La.

Testing photos released in Ladakh

In the recently released photos, the Himalayan Electric prototype is seen being tested in Ladakh. The model is made of aluminum with major components. These include the mainframe, subframe, swingarm, battery case, heel pads, and luggage mounts.

Special design features

The Himalayan’s signature high windscreen, fuel tank-like shape and one-piece seat are also present in this electric prototype. The bike is equipped with LED headlights, taillights and turn signals throughout. It also features a 7-inch display screen.

High-quality suspension setup

It features USD telescopic forks at the front and Ohlins monoshock at the rear. Both are fully adjustable. Single disc brakes are also included at the front and rear. The prototype rides on spoked platinum wheels with premium Bridgestone Battlax ADVX tyres.

HIM-E in the testing phase

The Himalayan Electric is undergoing various stages of testing. Improvements are being made in terms of technology and riding experience. Several prototypes will be manufactured to meet the needs of passengers.

When will the official launch be?

Royal Enfield has plans to launch a fully-fledged production version in a few years. The HIM-E bike is expected to play a key role in future travel that encompasses both tourism and environmental conservation.
