Tata Sierra car model

In order to make a deep foothold in the Indian automobile market, Tata Motors has been actively introducing new cars for the last few years. This includes electric cars, which are considered to be the vehicles of the future. In such a way, the electric edition of the Harrier car, which is already in the market in the ICE edition, is to be launched on June 3. Amidst the introduction of the new car, Tata is also actively working on upgrading and re-marketing its vintage car model Sierra. While the announcement was made in this regard in 2020, the production-ready car model of the Sierra SUV was displayed at the recent Bharat Mobility Global Expo.

Ciara in EV/ICE editions

In line with the recent trend, Tata is also going to market the Ciara car model in both engine and electric editions. It has been reported that this launch will be by the end of the current financial year. Accordingly, while the Harrier electric edition is being launched on June 3, it is said that the Ciara car may be launched in the Indian automobile market in March next year. With the recent leaked test drive photos of this car, various interesting information related to it is also being revealed.

Tata’s new Ciara design

Tata has improved and redesigned the Ciara car model according to the modern times. It has added new modern features with the old attention-grabbing beauty. The large mirrors that were present in the old Ciara model have been removed due to safety regulations. LED DRLs are provided below the bonnet, a glossy black grille and vertically positioned LED headlights. At the same time, it has retained the vintage boxy design. To add to its beauty, a dual-tone floating roof, bold alloy wheels have been provided. Connected LED lights have been provided at the rear, and a ‘Sierra’ nameplate has been provided below the Tata badge.

Tata’s Sierra Interior Features

The dashboard, like that of Tata’s recent car models, continues in the Sierra, with the central console being different from other existing models. The center of the dashboard houses the touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster and horizontal AC vents. The 4-spoke steering wheel has an illuminated brand logo.

In terms of features, both the engine and powertrain editions feature panoramic sunroof, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, connected car technology, voice-activated features and auto climate control. For safety, there are 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS including Lane Keep Assist, Lane Change Assistance and Automatic Emergency Braking.

Tata Chiara Powertrain Details

The engine edition of the Chiara is expected to get petrol and diesel options. Accordingly, a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine producing 168bhp and 280 NM of power is likely to be available. In addition, the well-known 2-litre cryogenic diesel engine, which is currently found in the Harrier and Safari cars, is expected to produce 168bhp and 350 NM of power. Reports suggest that there may be 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox options. The Tata petrol engine offers a mileage of 17 to 24 kmpl, while the 2-litre cryo diesel engine offers a mileage of around 17 kmpl.

Although information regarding the electric edition is not yet available, it is believed that the battery pack found in the Harrier electric edition may also be featured in the Ciara. Accordingly, it is expected to get a range of more than 500 km in the dual-motor all-wheel drive setup.

Price, competitor details

The price of the two editions of the Ciara car model is said to be set at around 25 lakhs. When launched in the Indian automobile market, it will face competition from the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate and Skoda Kushak. The electric version of the Ciara could face competition from the likes of the Hyundai Greta Electric, Mahindra BE 6 and MG ZS EV.

Tata Ciara Vintage

Tata’s vintage Ciara was first introduced in 1991. It was the first SUV to be developed domestically. However, its high price tag and impractical 3-door design did not garner the desired response from the public. As a result, the Ciara was discontinued in 2003 and is now being relaunched with upgrades.
