Yamaha R15M: Yamaha Motorcycles India launched the Yamaha R15 V4 and a new Yamaha R15M motorcycles in September last year. The new Yamaha R15M comes in two color options Metallic Gray and Black Metallic. Taking its racing DNA to the next level, the R15M has features like stunning graphics, 3D emblem, special seat, traction control and quick shifter. It is priced at Rs 1,82,800 (ex-showroom, Delhi). We used this bike for a few days and have brought a review for you.

Yamaha R15M Look and Design

The bike has an aerodynamic body design that manages air pressure better, which helps you to drive the bike at high speed. For the headlight, it has a single bi-functional LED unit that works as both low and high beam. The visibility and throw of the headlight is quite powerful. LED position lights are provided on both sides of the front face, which give an attractive look to the bike.

It has an advanced fully digital LCD meter console, which shows you information like average mileage, average speed, coolant temperature, battery power and traction control system on or off. The seat height of the bike is 815mm. Riders with height of 5’6” or above can easily ride it. The weight of this lightweight bike is 142 kg and the fuel tank capacity is 11 liters. It has dual horns, whose sound is no less than any vehicle.

The bike has alloy wheels with USD forks suspension with 17-inch front tyre and monocross suspension with 17-inch rear tyre. USD improves sporty handling on twisty roads. Apart from this, upside down front forks offer stability while turning at high speed or during hard braking. Talking about dimensions, its length is 1990mm, width 725mm, wheelbase 1325mm and ground clearance is 170mm.

Engine and Performance

The bike has a 155 cc, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 4-valve engine. It is capable of generating 14.2 Nm torque and 18.4 PS power. This engine is equipped with traction control system and quick shifter (up-shift). This sports bike comes with dual channel ABS (anti-lock braking system) and slipper clutch for safety. The feature of slipper clutch makes gear downshift smooth. R15M comes with traction control system. It reduces the chances of wheelspin, which reduces the fear of the bike slipping.

If we talk about performance, then this is a bike that offers great riding comfort in its segment. You can ride it comfortably in highway cruising and bumper-to-bumper traffic.

Just lean in and you will fall in love with its performance. The instant pick-up of the bike is amazing. Its look also makes you stand out from the crowd. However, after going above 60kmph, it may seem underpowered, especially if you have two people sitting. You can go on a ride of 100 to 150 KM with the bike. However, you may feel uncomfortable after going more than that. Apart from this, long rides will not be comfortable for the pillion rider either. Driving it on the track can give you a different experience.

Yamaha R15M Connectivity and other features

It also has smartphone connectivity, which shows you phone notifications on the instrument screen itself. Apart from this, you can see fuel consumption, last park location, maintenance tips, and malfunction notifications on the Y-Connect app. For the comfort of the rider, features like engine kill switch, step-up and split seat have been provided in it. Due to its built-in side stand cut off switch, the bike will not start unless you remove the side stand.
